Angel to mind my Padre Pio statue

Mary Malone wants a carer for her Padre Pio

AN Irish couple are desperately seeking a babysitter - to look after a 300lb life-size wooden statue of Italian priest Padre Pio.
Spiritual healer Mary Malone and her husband Malcolm are setting off for a religious world tour next week and are hoping someone will look after the six-foot statue.
The piece was specially commissioned after the holy man appeared to Mary in a dream. Speaking last night from her home in Mount Bellow, Co Galway, Mary said: "We want someone to take care of him and polish him and someone who will pray to him while we're gone.
"We are about to head off on a 12-month world tour and obviously he is too big to bring with us.
"I'm very devoted to Padre Pie. The statue was my way of thanking him for the gift I've received.
"I had been on at Malcolm for five years to get the statue . so when we finally did it he said we may as well do it properly.
"We got it commissioned in California and it took the sculptor five months to finish it.
"Then we got it shipped over and it has been travelling with us around Ireland ever since."
Mary has been healing since 1983 when, she claims, Padre Pie appeared to her in a dream and told her she had received a gift.
She got a chance to try her healing powers out in Johannesburg four months later when a woman next to her said she was suffering from depression.

Mary offered to lay her hands on the lady and three days later she received a letter thanking her for the cure.
Since then, Mary has travelled the country visiting the sick and laying her hands on them.
The couple have just visited Lisdoonvarna in Co Clare, where Mary says she cured 12 people.
Malcolm and Mary are no strangers to world tours. Since 1983 they have clocked up more than two million air miles.
In 1987 they broke the British Airways record for the most travelled couple in the world.
In 1991 alone they travelled more than a million miles. Next week the couple are starting a year-long world healing tour and they are keen to find someone who will take care of their statue.
It is currently kept at Mary's home, but it will travel with the couple to Donegal this weekend when they finish this year's Irish healing tour.
Padre Pie was the first priest in the history of the Catholic Church to possess the stigmata. the flesh wounds suffered by Christ during his crucifixion.
Padre Pie, who died in 1968, also had the gift of healing and prophesy.
Mary, who has appeared on the Pat Kenny Show and Live at Three, asked only that whoever takes care of her statue will polish it and pray to it.
