Dear Mary,
Just a short note to thank you for your appearances on the programme. You probably are not aware of the response we had to your appearance so let me outline it for you.
On your first appearance the phone lines to the programme were jammed for no less than three days. I also had to appoint a dedicated researcher to handle the letter response. Because of this I decided I had to bring you back for two reasons.
- To try and address some of the letters which you did wonderfully and
- To tell the public not to phone our write to RTE but to contact you direct on the phone numbers you personally had to set up.
I have to say in all my years in this business I have never had a better response to a television item and you are to be congratulated.
What it is, I don't know, how it works I don't know, all I do know is that your conversations with the public on the programme were so accurate it was uncanny.
Many, many thanks for your contribution and I hope you will continue to do you wonderful work for many years to come.
1 hope we will meet with you and your husband Malcolm again soon.
